In October 2006, Joseph “Jay” Connor presented his work on Community Aspirations and the elimination of silos to community leaders.

• Based on Connor’s work a Community Advisory committee was established in 2007 to develop Community Aspirations for Windsor-Essex County.
• The Ontario Trillium foundation granted resources to develop Community Aspirations for Windsor-Essex County.
• Community conversations and an online campaign were used to identify what the community would like to see action on. The following are the results:
  • People’s basic needs for food, shelter and other necessities are met.
  • People are healthy and have physical and mental health care that meets their needs.
  • Children are safe, healthy, nurtured and ready to succeed.
  • Windsor-Essex economy is strong, people are literate and have the skills to obtain employment at a living wage.
• On June 17, 2009, community stakeholders developed specific community outcomes that we can achieve in the next three to five year.
